TAHMINEH MILANI

For nearly three decades, Tahmineh Milani has been one of the most prominent filmmakers in Iran. Her outspoken feminist views, evident throughout her films, have singled her out both as a champion of women's right, and a target for conservative criticism. Milani has remained fearless, and developed a career that has consistently challenged audiences.

With films like Children of Divorce, Two Women, Hidden Half and the comedy Cease Fire, she's made some of the greatest box office hits in Iranian cinema, while always remaining critical and provocative. Her latest film, Untaken Paths (Mali va Rah-hay-e Narafteh) will screen at CineIran 2017. Ms. Milani will be in Toronto, and will join us for a post-screening panel on the topic of violence against women and its portrayal in cinema.
